More Parkerisms and Turnerisms

Raising two sons, 10 and 7, means we have lots of fun conversations in our home. Here are some more:

Turner: I know a lot more in my head than what comes out of my mouth.

While driving to a wedding this summer-
Parker: Daddy, are those sunglasses too small for you or is your head too big?

During this summer's World Cup competition after Nigeria scored the equalizer to tie Argentina-
Turner: Nigeria's got something in their blood. It's passion!

More Parkerisms and Turnerisms

Raising two sons, 10 and 7, means we have lots of fun conversations in our home. Here are some more:

At a Tennessee Smokies baseball game (during an in-game promotion)-
Parker: Why do they always pick people from the blue seats?
Me: Those seats cost more.
Parker: That doesn't seem fair.
Me: They're just taking care of the fans who pay more.
Parker: That seems like segregation.

Jumping in the pool earlier this summer-
Turner: I'm doing this for my family. Remember me.

Tonya: Parker, do you want a peach?
Parker: A peach what?
Tonya: A peach. Like...a peach

Turner: Can I have more dessert?
Tonya: I don't think that's a good idea. What do you think Greg?
Me: I think that's probably a bad idea.
Turner: You're married. You have to agree on everything.

Point for the Day- Seasons of Marriage (Fall #3)

How long a couple has been married does not necessarily determine the season their marriage is in. Some couples have been married less than a year but are already headed toward Winter. By contrast, other couples have been married for decades and are still enjoying Summer.

When Fall is on its way...or already here:

Couples begin to listen to other voices- Genesis 3:4

Some voices are voices of encouragement. Listen to those.

Some voices are the voices of snakes. Run from those.

Point for the Day- Seasons of Marriage (Fall #2)

How long a couple has been married does not necessarily determine the season their marriage is in. Some couples have been married for less than a year but are already headed toward Winter. By contrast, other couples have been married for decades and are still enjoying summer.

When Fall is on its way...or already here:

Couples experience poor communication- Genesis 3:2,3
Eve shared (with the serpent) information from God that Adam had shared with her. Except what Eve was told, or what Eve understood Adam to say, was not what God had said (Genesis 2:15-17).

Every couple will experience communication issues from time to time. But details matter. Especially when it comes to what "God said".

Point for the Day- Seasons of Marriage (Fall)

How long a couple has been married does not necessarily determine the season their marriage is in. Some couples have been married less than a year but are already headed toward Winter. By contrast, other couples have been married for decades and are still enjoying Summer.

When Fall is on its way...or already here:

Couples experience a distance between themselves- Genesis 3:1
Think about it. Where was Adam? There was no one else to talk to yet he was not with his wife. For one or both of them, something else had become a priority.

A couple doesn't need to always be together but when they begin to plan (and enjoy) time apart, they're headed for trouble.

Great Quote Thursday

I don't consider myself an elite superstar player by any means. I've always tried to be an elite teammate though. Like a really, really good teammate. If you're going to build a team, you'd want me to be on it- Kyle Korver, Atlanta Hawks
